Dr. Joni McNeely

Dr. Joni McNeely is a family physician residing in the Wheatland area. Her interests are emergency and aboriginal medicine. She previously served on the Strathmore Victim Services Society and the Strathmore 55 plus Alberta Summer Games Society. Dr. McNeely has two teenage sons and is currently pursuing further education in Health and Community Development. Memories of love and friendship inspire her vision of community-based hospice services in Wheatland area.

Keith Clayton
Past President

Keith Clayton was born and raised in the Chestermere/Indus area. As a professional engineer, he worked for Cominco Ltd. and Agrium, then consulted independently for fourteen years. He has volunteered on the Strathmore Minor Hockey Board, the Community Enhancement Regional Board (CERB), and Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games Board, arena building committees, and coached numerous minor sports teams. He and his wife of 49 years, Marilyn, have two children and three grandchildren. Keith is still actively farming in the Strathmore area. Keith serves as the first Society President who came on board with what he thinks is one of the best ideas he’s heard in a long time.

Casey Silbernagel

Casey Silbernagel is a journeyman communications electrician by trade. He worked for AGT/Telus for 17 years prior to starting his home/commercial building construction company in 1993, which he still operates today. He served on the Board of Directors for the Strathmore Community Football Association for five years and with the Strathmore and District Agriculture Society for five years. He continues to be an active member of the community he has resided in for the past 37 years.

Shelah Downey

Shelah Downey is an Accounting Technician who lives in Wheatland County on the family ranch with her husband and two boys. She enjoys reading, scrapbooking and spending time with her family.

Shelah believes that Wheatland County could benefit from hospice care so that people nearing the end of life can be surrounded by family and friends.

Judy McLean

Judy McLean moved to Strathmore in 1997. She, along with her husband Greg, are part of the family business, Grays Ltd. She previously worked for Nova Corporation and ATB Financial. Her previous large scale event and fundraising experience was with Nova Social Club, United Way, and Ducks Unlimited. Judy’s passion for hospice care began as a caregiver for a family member in British Columbia, and she hopes to bring similar hospice programming to the Wheatland area.

Gwen Schneider

Gwen Schneider moved to Strathmore in 1978 and worked for the Town of Strathmore where she met the love of her life, Keith Schneider. They were married in 1981 and raised two beautiful daughters. The family grew with the addition two fantastic son-in-laws, plus four absolutely perfect grandchildren. She also worked as a nursing attendant at the Strathmore Hospital and for the Strathmore Vision Clinic. Volunteering was always a part of their lives. “Keith always said, ‘If you want to know about something… then get involved.” Gwen currently fills her time volunteering as a baby cuddler and doing whatever she can to help with the Wheatland and Area Hospice Society.

Randal Jarvis

Randal Jarvis was born in Chilliwack BC and raised in Islay Alberta, between Vermillion and Lloydminster. He has 3 children and 11 grandchildren all of which are in or near Strathmore. He attended University at both U of C where he achieved a Masters of Education and U of A where he achieved a Bachelors of Law. He taught 2 years in Morrin, 1 year near Bonnyville, and was Vice Principal for 3 years in High Level. He has spent 32 of his 33 years as a lawyer in Strathmore.

His other volunteer interests include coaching sports, scouting programs, on Community School Steering Committee, and many years of service in his church.

Gerry Kroon

Gerry Kroon has lived in the Standard area his entire life. Recently retired from a 36-year career with Agrium, he also farmed and worked with his father in a local business. He and his wife Ruth live on the family farm where they raised their two children. Gerry has served on various community boards over the years including the local school and Co-op boards. He travels extensively, enjoys sports and fishing in remote locations. Gerry is excited to be involved with the Hospice project.
